About Sucheta

House of Sucheta started the way most handmade things do — at home, on a small table, with one bangle and a lot of patience. Sucheta has been wrapping silk thread around bangles for years, first for family weddings, then for friends, then for women across Bhubaneswar who heard about her work and asked if she would make a set for them too.
Every piece is made by hand. Silk thread, stones, and time — that is the whole recipe. There is no factory, no batch of a hundred. Most days you will find her with a bangle base in her left hand and a strand of thread in her right, working from the morning light by the window in her workshop.
The work follows the calendar of Odisha and the rest of India. Karva Chauth red and gold. Diwali greens and blues. Bridal sets in deep maroon with kundan. Navratri colours, one for each night. If you have a specific colour in mind for a wedding or a festival, she will almost certainly say yes — message her on WhatsApp with the date and the colours and she will start.
House of Sucheta is one person making things slowly, in a city where everything moves quickly. Thank you for being here.
